The NBA Finals: Stats to Consider
While listening to “Mike and Mike in the Morning” on ESPN Radio this morning, I heard a very intriguing statistic from Jalen Rose, NBA analyst, about the NBA finals matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat.
Rose said that dating back to 1999, there have been only 3 teams to win the Western Conference. The Los Angelos Lakers have won it 7 times, with 5 championships....

Trump for President?
For some ridiculous reason politicians seem to believe that they are required to announce a run for the White House a year and a half or more before the election. By my count, that would mean that any day now, we’ll see a slew of candidates for the Republican nomination announce their intent to challenge the President. I have noticed one potential candidate in particular who seems to be...

Media vs. Media: Who Should We Listen To?
Have you ever noticed that reporters in any news media (cable, print, etc.) tend to exaggerate? Okay, maybe that was a ridiculous understatement.
As I sit here listening to a news cast, I can’t help but wonder why there is so much exaggeration of the issues. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that there is a difference between reporting the news and commenting on it. The TV...

My Successful Quest for a Chrome Notebook
Hello everyone. This is Ben, the younger Robin brother. I thought it was high time I insert my own snippet into this blog. For my first post on Robin Reader, I wanted to share with you all a recent event in my life.
About two years ago, I fell in love with a little company from Mountain View, California. Google is their name - maybe you’ve heard of them. Anyway, this company caught my eye...

What Can the Big 12 Do?
There are so many people talking about expansion for the Big 12. My first thought is: why is that necessary? Realistically speaking, are any schools already in a major conference (meaning an automatic BCS bid) going to leave their conference? Probably not. So, what could the Big 12 gain by moving back to a 12-team league? Many argue that there could be more TV markets to gain - where? Is Notre...

The Best Teachers I've Ever Had
Most of the time college professors have a passion for their material. Many of them hold a doctoral degree in the subject matter. However, what sometimes falls by the wayside is a passion for teaching.
A passion for the material is simply not enough. Looking back, I can remember a number of professors who parade around in front of the classroom going on and on about their favorite subject. While...

A Quarterback's Job is to Throw the Ball
Why are we supposed to care that Denard Robinson has the most rushing yards by a Quarterback in NCAA history? I understand that doing something (no matter what it is) for the first time ever is significant. But, a Quarterback’s job is to throw the football.
Ever since Tim Tebow, offenses have become more and more one dimensional around the country. Call it “the spread” if you...
